Sign Works of Muscatine

"Where Your Brand Comes to Life"

About Us

Sign Works of Muscatine has been a proud part of the Muscatine community for more than 30 years. What started as a small, family-run sign shop has grown into a trusted local name known for quality craftsmanship, dependable service, and a deep commitment to helping businesses stand out. Owner Tim Sulzberger carries on the legacy started by his uncle, taking over the business with a promise to keep the tradition alive and continue serving the community with the same dedication and pride it was built on.

From day one, Sign Works of Muscatine has believed in doing things the right way—which is why everything we produce is made in-house. This allows us to maintain the highest standards of quality, consistency, and customization across every project. Whether we’re creating custom business signs, school banners, commercial vehicle wraps, or specialty graphics, our team pours skill and care into every detail.

Over the decades, our mission has remained the same: deliver exceptional signage and an exceptional experience. Today, we’re honored to be the go-to sign partner for businesses, schools, organizations, and individuals throughout Muscatine and the surrounding areas. And with Tim at the helm, we’re proud to carry this family-built legacy forward—one sign, one customer, and one story at a time.

FAQ

What types of signs do you make?
We produce custom signs and graphics, including vinyl decals, vehicle graphics, banners, aluminum signs, window graphics, yard signs, magnets, and specialty signage. If it can be printed, cut, or stuck to something, we make it.
Do you design signs, or do I need to bring my own artwork?
• If you have print-ready artwork, we’ll use it.
• If you don’t, we can design it in-house. Design time is billed separately, because good design isn’t free and bad design costs more later.
What file formats do you accept?
Preferred formats are Illustrator vector files, such as EPS or AI and sometimes PDF if it is high quality.
We can work with Raster artwork, such as JPGs or PNGs, but these are low-resolution files which may require cleanup or redesign—and yes, that can add cost.
How long does it take to get a sign made?
Typical turnaround is 3 weeks on workload and materials—just ask before assuming.
Do you offer installation?
For most projects, yes. Installation depends on the type, size, and location of the sign. Some jobs are better handled by the customer or a contractor—we’ll tell you honestly which is which.
Can you match colors exactly?
We do our best and will match CMYK or PMS (Pantone Matching System), but printed colors will never look exactly like what you see on a screen. If color accuracy is critical, we recommend a proof or sample before full production.
What materials do you use?
Common materials include:
• Vinyl (permanent, removable, specialty),
• Aluminum (.040, .080), steel, plastic, composite
• Banner material and window perf
• Acrylic, polycarbonate, Coroplast (corrugated plastic), Sintra (PVC plastic), and specialty substrates (project-dependent)
We’ll recommend the right material based on how long you want it to last and where it’s going.
Do you offer bulk or quantity discounts?
Yes. Larger quantities usually mean a lower cost per sign. We’ll price it fairly—no gimmicks.
Do you work with businesses, churches, and organizations?
Absolutely. We work with local businesses, schools, churches, nonprofits, and individuals. One sign or a hundred—we don’t play favorites.
How do I get started?
Bring us:
1. An idea (even a rough one)
2. Size and quantity
3. Where the sign will be used
We’ll take it from there.
